FAQs

FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.
  • What does paranormal mean?

Events that are beyond the scope of normal scientific understanding (that can include things like hauntings, poltergeists, UFOs, cryptids)

  • Do you believe in the paranormal?

We do, yes. But we think a rational level headed approach is required when investigating events

  • What do you mean by rational?

By rational we will exclude all possible natural causes before concluding that an event is paranormal

  • Why do you need a signed consent?

As part of our code of ethics we believe this will emphasise the importance we place on confidentiality and the client’s perceptions and expectations – see T&Cs

  • Do you always investigate client’s cases

We cannot undertake to investigate every case although every effort will be made to help anybody who  contacts us

  • Can you clear my home of unwanted spirits

No. We are not exorcists but we will offer advice and guidance to the client and help you find ways of claiming your home back.

  • What sort of equipment do you use?

PRI UK may use digital recorders for interviews and camera equipment to take photos of the  location. Despite many claims there are no ghost detecting devices.

  • How far do you travel?

We are based in London but will travel anywhere in the UK when and where possible

  • How long does the investigation take?

There is no fixed time, paranormal events are generally spontaneous. With the client’s consent  we will revisit locations if necessary.

  • How much do you charge?

PRI UK don’t charge, we will cover all our own expenses

  • What makes PRI UK different?

We think the methods we use are based on sound scientific principles, we first establish there  are no natural causes before committing ourselves to a conclusion. In that way we are not unique but it  distances us from those who sensationalise paranormal investigation and copy the conventions of most  paranormal TV programmes: paramilitary clothing, the use of unscientific and irrelevant equipment, vague  claims of “presences”. We’ve listened to a known medium and self-proclaimed exorcist make claims that wall paper was "strange" because a photograph they had taken had reflective patches, we think these sort of claims are irrational and unhelpful. They do not help the client at a time when they may be distressed.

  • What are PRI UK's objectives

We endeavour to undertake investigations and research into the paranormal while recognising evidence for this phenomena can be difficult to obtain. However, through undertaking professional field investigations and re-evaluating our methods we will remain open minded and receptive to the challeges presented. Ultimately, we hope that the weight of evidence will eventually lead to a general acceptance that paranormal events occur. Above all, we are positive, respectful, approachable and optimistic.
